AI Set to Impact Thousands of Jobs in the UK Next Year

Thousands of workers in the UK may face job losses in the coming year as companies are expected to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) to replace some of their staff, according to a survey conducted by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
The survey revealed that about one in six employers intends to implement AI for workforce reductions, with 62% of employers indicating that entry-level and administrative roles are the most vulnerable positions.
Private sector employees appear to be at the greatest risk, as 26% of companies anticipate a decrease in their workforce, compared to 20% in the public sector.
More than a quarter of firms planning job cuts due to AI expect to reduce over 10% of their total workforce in the next year, highlighting a rapid shift in the labor market towards greater reliance on intelligent technologies.
This transition comes at a time when businesses are increasingly turning to AI solutions to enhance productivity and reduce costs, raising concerns about the future of traditional jobs and the need for retraining programs to help workers adapt to these changes.
