UNRWA Deputy Commissioner: Israel Violates International Law by Restricting Aid to Gaza

In an interview with the Guardian, Antonia Maria de Miu, the Deputy Commissioner of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), asserted that Israel, as an occupying power, is failing to comply with humanitarian law. She highlighted that the continued limitations on the flow of humanitarian assistance to Gaza constitute a significant breach of international standards.

De Miu emphasized that the situation in Gaza is worsening with the approaching winter, as thousands of families face the threat of starvation and extreme cold due to shortages of food, medical supplies, and shelter.

She called for increased international pressure on the Israeli government to ensure that aid reaches Gaza without restrictions, stressing that humanitarian response should take precedence over political or security considerations.
