Iranian Foreign Minister Urges Trump Not to Repeat Past Mistakes

In light of potential American threats of military action against Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi issued a stern warning to U.S. President Donald Trump.
In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday evening, Araghchi stated: "My message to President Donald Trump is: Do not repeat the same mistake you made in June."
This remark references U.S. military strikes that targeted Iran in the summer of 2025, emphasizing that a recurrence of this "failed experiment" would yield the same results.
* "Terrorist Elements" Behind Violence
Regarding the protests that have erupted in Iran since December 28, Araghchi confirmed that the death toll has not reached the thousands as claimed, stating that only hundreds have died due to gunfire from what he described as terrorist elements from abroad, employing tactics similar to those of ISIS.
He added: "These groups have taken police officers hostage, burned them alive, decapitated them, and begun firing on police and civilians."
He stressed that security forces have acted against these elements over three days, not against peaceful demonstrators.
Araghchi linked some of these incidents to alleged attempts to draw the United States into the conflict, hinting at a possible Israeli role without providing evidence.
* Denial of Executions and Exaggerated Death Toll
Araghchi confirmed that there are no plans to execute protesters related to the demonstrations, noting that the Iranian judiciary has disputed the accuracy of circulating death toll figures, stating that the numbers appearing on death certificates do not reflect the actual death toll.
* Military Context
The protests, which began in response to deteriorating economic and social conditions, later evolved into political demonstrations against the ruling authorities, raising international concerns about potential U.S. intervention following repeated threats from Trump.
