UN Chief Warns of Humanitarian Funding Cuts Threatening Millions

UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated today that global humanitarian funding has been reduced by nearly half, resulting in significant cuts to many humanitarian programs and putting millions of people at serious risk.

Guterres emphasized that this decline in funding jeopardizes the ability of the United Nations and humanitarian organizations to respond to escalating crises, noting that millions are left without protection or essential support amid conflicts, natural disasters, and economic turmoil.

The Secretary-General's remarks come as warnings increase regarding the worsening humanitarian crises in several regions, particularly in Sudan and Gaza, where civilians are suffering under extreme conditions and face shortages of food, medicine, and shelter.
