Former Zamalek Star Mohamed Sabri Dies in Tragic Accident

Mohamed Sabri, a former star of Zamalek SC and a well-known media personality, died in a tragic accident on Friday in the Al-Tagammu Al-Khamis area, east of Cairo. He was 51 years old.
Sabri is remembered as one of the club's most distinguished players, having started his career with the first team in 1994 under the late coach Mahmoud El-Gohary. His professional tenure at Zamalek lasted until 2003, during which he won 11 different titles.
Known for his powerful shots, Sabri earned the nickname "The Cannon" after scoring a memorable goal against Ahmed Shobeir in a high-stakes match between Al-Ahly and Zamalek. He continued to shine in subsequent seasons, notably scoring against Essam El-Hadary during the 1998-1999 season.
After 13 years with Zamalek, Sabri sought new challenges, joining Kuwaiti club Kazma and later moving to Al-Ittihad Club, where he announced his retirement in 2004 after a brief stint.
Following his playing career, he transitioned into sports journalism, becoming a prominent figure associated with Zamalek and maintaining a close connection to the club until his final moments.
Born on April 7, 1974, in Belbeis, Sharqia Province, Sabri leaves behind a legacy in both sports and media that will be remembered by fans.
