Starlink has revised its privacy policy, enabling the automatic collection of user data for the purpose of training machine learning and artificial intelligence models. Users can choose to opt-out if they prefer not to share their data for this use.

Types of Data Collected

The types of data that may be collected include contact details, performance metrics, billing information, as well as audio, electronic, or visual data. The company has assured users that their internet history, including browsing habits and geographic locations, will not be utilized in AI training.

Risks and Privacy Considerations

Experts in technology caution that utilizing data for AI training can pose risks, such as the potential for original information to be reproduced during the training process or the use of data in generative models, which may compromise user privacy.

Opting Out of Data Sharing

Users who prefer not to share their data can opt-out by accessing their account through the app or website: log in → account portal → privacy settings → deselect the option to use data for AI training, ensuring their data will not be included.
