Nuclear Negotiations Between U.S. and Iran Encounter Obstacles Over Format and Venue

U.S. officials announced today that efforts to resume nuclear negotiations with Iran are at risk after Tehran declined to return to the previously established format.

Officials indicated that Iran has requested a shift in both the location and format of the discussions from Istanbul to Muscat. The United States has rejected this proposal, asserting that any alterations must remain within the agreed framework.

A White House envoy confirmed that Washington remains open to meeting with Iranian representatives, provided that the original terms of the negotiations are upheld. The envoy cautioned that a failure to reach an agreement could prompt the U.S. to explore alternative options.
