On Wednesday, the special representative of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi urged for a comprehensive investigation into his assassination, asserting that those responsible are undermining stability in Libya. The representative highlighted Saif al-Islam's substantial electoral support and emphasized the need for accountability.

According to the representative, Saif al-Islam was at home alone when he was attacked by unidentified gunmen. It was noted that burial arrangements will be made next to his brother, Khamis Gaddafi.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya expressed profound concern over the assassination, calling on Libyan authorities to initiate a prompt and transparent investigation to clarify the circumstances and ensure justice for the incident.
