The Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Taha Al-Ahmad, stated that the Syrian government is closely observing the situation of its citizens in Egypt amid reports of new entry restrictions for Syrian nationals.

Al-Ahmad noted in a post on the platform "X" that discussions between Syrian and Egyptian officials have intensified since the start of the year, aimed at coordinating efforts and tackling the challenges faced by Syrians residing in Egypt.

Support from the Syrian Embassy in Cairo

The Syrian official revealed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Syrian embassy in Cairo to offer comprehensive consular and legal assistance to the Syrian community. He mentioned that technical proposals have been submitted to Egyptian authorities to streamline residency processes and regularize the status of Syrians in the country.
He underscored that safeguarding the rights of Syrians abroad remains a key priority for Syrian diplomatic efforts.

Entry Restrictions Circular Circulated

Meanwhile, social media and travel agency pages have circulated a notice indicating a decision to bar Syrians from entering Egypt if they arrive from four specific countries: Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan, until further notice.
Reports suggest that this decision does not apply to Syrians who possess valid residency permits in Egypt.

Deadline for Entry as per the Circular

The circulated notice specifies that the last allowed date for entry of Syrians from the aforementioned countries is February 6, 2026, prompting widespread inquiries among the Syrian community and travelers regarding the implications and duration of these new measures.
