Abdel Jawad Metwally, the distinguished Egyptian actor, passed away on Sunday at the age of 87 after a prolonged battle with chronic health issues, including diabetes and hypertension, which had kept him from the public eye for several years.

A family source confirmed that Metwally spent his final days surrounded by loved ones, having been hospitalized multiple times prior to his death.

Born in 1939, Metwally developed a passion for the arts early in life, although he initially pursued various jobs before finding his calling in acting.

Throughout his career, he made significant contributions to television, cinema, and theater, featuring in notable productions such as:

• Television Series: "Saber Ya Am Saber" (1984), "Burj Al-Akaber" (1987), "Souq Al-Asr" (2001), and "Aunt Nour" (2003) alongside Nabila Obeid.

• Films: "Ashmawy" (1987), "Nisf Dasat Majaneen" (1991), where he played Dr. Ezzat, the hospital director, "Imra'a Ayla Lil-Suqut" (1992), and "Al-Imparatora" (1999).

His final series, "Hamda Allah Ala Al-Salama" (2007), depicted the life of Al-Asyouti, a train driver approaching retirement who becomes involved in the railway drivers' association, showcasing a blend of personal and professional challenges. This series featured a talented cast including Hassan Hosny, Hala Fakher, and Abdel Aziz Makhioun, and was written by Mona Shabait and directed by Mohamed Abdel Aziz.

Metwally's artistic journey left an enduring legacy, intertwining elements of comedy and drama, and played a crucial role in shaping the landscape of Egyptian art over the decades, ensuring his name will be remembered by audiences for years to come.
