Former Egyptian Footballer Amr Zaki Detained at Cairo Airport Due to Legal Issues

A notable incident unfolded at Cairo International Airport on Friday evening when former Egyptian national team player and Zamalek star Amr Zaki was detained while attempting to board a flight.
According to security sources, Zaki's name appeared on a travel ban list due to unresolved legal matters. It was reported that he has received a final court sentence of one year in prison related to an "accidental injury" incident that took place in El Alamein, alongside other travel restrictions stemming from family disputes and pending legal cases.
Authorities confirmed that the detention was part of standard security protocols aimed at enforcing court rulings and preventing individuals with legal issues from departing the country. Following his arrest, Zaki was held for processing before being referred to the prosecution for further legal action.
In terms of his football career, Amr Zaki began with Al Mansoura Club before transferring to Enppi in the 2003 season, where he helped the team secure the Egypt Cup in the 2004-2005 season. His performance during the Africa Cup of Nations 2006 led to professional opportunities in Europe, including stints at Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia and Wigan Athletic in England, before he returned to Zamalek to conclude his playing career.
