U.S. Congress Approves Repeal of Caesar Act Sanctions on Syria

The amendment, titled "Repeal of the Caesar Act for the Protection of Civilians in Syria of 2019," mandates that the U.S. president submit periodic reports every 180 days for four years to relevant congressional committees. These reports will assess whether the Syrian government:
. takes concrete actions to eradicate ISIS and other terrorist organizations in cooperation with the United States;
. works to remove foreign fighters from high-ranking positions within Syrian state and security institutions.
This U.S. decision reflects a strategic shift in policy towards Syria while maintaining strict oversight mechanisms to ensure the Syrian regime's commitment to combating terrorism.
