During the meeting, residents emphasized the urgent need for measures to halt Israeli incursions and violations, ensuring their safety and stability, and protecting their property and livelihoods as assaults continue against villages and towns in the province.
UN Commitment to Address Complaints
The UN delegation, led by Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix, stated that it would relay the residents' requests and complaints to the United Nations and follow up through official channels, contributing to the protection of civilians and the safeguarding of their fundamental rights.
Arrests and Agricultural Losses
In a statement to the Sana news agency, the representative of the Quneitra governor and head of the Western Golan residents' assembly, Mohamed Nasser, noted that Israeli actions have led to land clearing and tree cutting, in addition to the ongoing arrest of 45 individuals from the province, which has negatively impacted the residents' quality of life.
UN Actions in Quneitra Campaign
The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) announced the commencement of patrols and the establishment of nighttime checkpoints in several villages and towns in northern Quneitra, amid rising security tensions.
Calls for Adherence to Ceasefire Agreement
Syria asserts that Israel continues to violate the 1974 ceasefire agreement through incursions, arrests, forced displacements, and property destruction, urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and compel the occupying forces to withdraw completely from southern Syria and adhere to the agreement.
