U.S. and Israel Conduct Joint Naval Exercises in the Red Sea Amid Rising Tensions with Iran

In an effort to bolster military collaboration, the United States and Israel conducted joint naval exercises in the Red Sea on Sunday. While both nations described the drills as routine, they occur amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The exercise featured the U.S. guided-missile destroyer "Delbert D. Black," recognized for its advanced capabilities in air and maritime defense, as well as anti-submarine operations and precision strikes on land targets.
Following the drills, the destroyer made its way to the Israeli port city of Eilat.
On the Israeli side, the naval vessel "INS Eilat" participated in the exercises. An Israeli military spokesperson confirmed that these maneuvers underscore the close cooperation between the naval forces of both countries.
U.S.-Iran relations have seen a sharp increase in tensions in recent weeks, with President Donald Trump repeatedly threatening military action against Iran, while Iran has warned of potential attacks against Israel and the U.S. in response to any aggression.
Despite the escalating situation, reports indicate that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi is scheduled to meet with U.S. Special Envoy Steve Biegun for negotiations aimed at de-escalating tensions.
