The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has commenced an official investigation following incidents of violence that occurred after the match between France and Colombia in the Round of 32 of the U-17 World Cup in Qatar, which concluded with a 2-0 victory for France.
Reports from French media indicate that several Colombian players assaulted French players and the team's physiotherapist immediately after the final whistle, while relatives of the players attempted to intervene to quell the altercations.
The French Football Federation has filed an official complaint with FIFA, accompanied by a detailed report of the assaults. Decisions regarding potential sanctions, including possible bans for certain players from participating in France's upcoming match against Brazil in the Round of 16, will be made in due course.
France secured its place in the knockout stage following its victory over Colombia, bouncing back from a mixed performance in the group stage, which included a win against Chile, a draw with Canada, and a loss to Uganda.
