Building Collapse in Tripoli: Rescue Efforts Underway as Families Remain Trapped

In the Bab el-Tebbaneh area of Tripoli, northern Lebanon, a five-story residential building has unexpectedly collapsed, trapping several residents beneath the rubble.
Rescue operations are ongoing, involving civil defense teams, the Red Cross, and local residents. The Lebanese army and special forces are also on the scene to manage the situation and prevent civilians from approaching, ensuring the safety of the rescue teams.
So far, eight individuals have been rescued alive, while five victims, including a child and an elderly person, have been recovered from the debris.
The collapsed building housed at least two families, and evacuation efforts for nearby structures continue due to fears of further collapses. Intense gunfire has been reported in the vicinity, though its source remains unidentified.
Fires have also erupted around the collapsed building, prompting firefighters to respond immediately, working alongside local residents to manage the situation and facilitate rescue operations.
The situation in Bab el-Tebbaneh is marked by a heightened state of alert, with authorities confirming that search operations for missing persons under the rubble will continue. Citizens are urged to stay away from the area to ensure their safety.
