Palestinian Vice President Warns of Israeli Actions Threatening Two-State Solution

Palestinian Vice President Hussein Sheikh issued a warning on Sunday regarding the serious implications of anticipated Israeli decisions aimed at further annexation and establishing new realities in the West Bank. He stated that these actions would effectively dismantle all signed agreements between the two parties.
Sheikh emphasized that discussions surrounding Israeli decisions affecting Area A, which is under Palestinian civil and security control, represent a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law. He cautioned that such unilateral measures threaten any political prospects and directly aim to undermine the two-state solution.
He further claimed that Israel's policies are designed to escalate tensions and instability in the region, urging the U.S. administration and the international community to intervene decisively to halt what he termed "occupying domination."
Sheikh's remarks follow a report from Yediot Ahronot indicating that the Israeli government has made new decisions that will facilitate land purchases by settlers in the West Bank and expand settlement activities, while also granting Israel direct authority in Area A.
Israeli estimates suggest that these decisions will remove barriers to significant Israeli expansion in the West Bank, effectively undermining the 1997 agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.
These developments are particularly significant as they come ahead of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's upcoming visit to Washington on Wednesday, where he is expected to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump. Reports from Axios indicate that Trump and his senior advisors have urged Netanyahu to revise his policies in the West Bank.
In this context, both Palestinian and international concerns are growing that the new Israeli measures could ignite tensions on the ground and permanently close the door on any future political solutions.
