Former Zamalek Star and Sports Journalist Mohamed Sabri Dies in Tragic Accident

Mohamed Sabri, a former star player for Zamalek and a well-known journalist for the club's channel, passed away on Friday in a tragic accident in the El Tagamoa El Khames area, east of Cairo, at the age of 51.
Sabri is remembered as one of the most prominent figures of "the White Castle," having begun his professional career with the first team under the late coach Mahmoud El-Gohary in 1994. His time with Zamalek spanned until 2003, during which he secured 11 different titles.
Renowned for his powerful shots, he earned the nickname "the cannon" after scoring a remarkable goal against Ahmed Shobeir in a high-stakes match between Al Ahly and Zamalek. He continued to shine in subsequent seasons, notably scoring against Essam El-Hadary during the 1998-1999 season.
After 13 years with Zamalek, Sabri sought new challenges, joining Kuwaiti club Al Qadsia, and later Ittihad Alexandria, before announcing his retirement in 2004 after a brief stint back at Ittihad Alexandria.
He then transitioned to sports media, becoming one of the most recognizable faces on the Zamalek channel, maintaining a close connection with the club until his final moments.
Born on April 7, 1974, in Belbeis, Sharqia Governorate, Sabri leaves behind a lasting legacy in both sports and media that will be remembered by fans.
