Antonia Mari de Miu, Deputy Commissioner-General of UNRWA, stated in an interview with "The Guardian" that Israel, as an occupying power, is not adhering to international humanitarian law. She emphasized that the ongoing restrictions on humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip represent a clear violation of international standards.
De Miu noted that the situation in Gaza is deteriorating with the onset of winter, as thousands of families face the threat of hunger and extreme cold amid severe shortages of food, medical supplies, and shelter.
She called for increased international pressure on the Israeli government to ensure unrestricted access for humanitarian aid, stressing that the humanitarian response must take precedence over political or security considerations.
