Liverpool's Arne Slot Critiques Referee Decisions Following Loss to Manchester City

Liverpool's manager Arne Slot voiced his frustration and disappointment following his team's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in a crucial Premier League match on Sunday.
In an interview with the BBC after the match, Slot remarked:
"There were many incidents during the game, which is typical in such matches, but the disappointment is significant because we did not achieve a positive result."
He added that Manchester City was the stronger side in the first half, despite not creating many clear chances, as they controlled possession in Liverpool's half.
In the second half, Slot stated that his team was clearly dominant and had several clear opportunities, noting:
"We were absolutely the better team and did not give them any significant chances. Just before the end of the match, a deflected ball went into the net, making it 1-1, and while we tried to stop them, Bernardo Silva finished the attack brilliantly."
Slot highlighted his team's tendency to concede goals in stoppage time, a pattern that recurred in this match, before addressing the incident involving the red card for Dominik Szoboszlai:
"That is not the most critical incident. The more important moment was when Mohamed Salah was alone in front of goal, and anyone who has watched games here in recent years knows that is a goal for Salah. Once again, we were not treated fairly by the referee."
Szoboszlai received a red card for pulling Erling Haaland's shirt while pursuing Ryan's shot on an open goal. Meanwhile, Liverpool players called for a red card for Marc Guéhi after he clearly impeded Salah's shot on goal.
This result allows Manchester City to continue their pursuit of the league title, while Liverpool faces a significant challenge in maintaining their position in the league amidst ongoing criticism of referee decisions in high-stakes matches.
