Israeli Military Operations in Southern Syria Result in Casualties and Displacement

Israeli military operations near the village of Beit Jinn in southern Syria have reportedly resulted in casualties and the displacement of dozens of families, as reported by Syrian media.
According to local reports, the Israeli incursion from Beit Jinn towards "Mizra'at Beit Jinn" resulted in nine deaths and several injuries. There has also been a noticeable increase in Israeli drone activity over the region.
Reports indicate that drone flights are concentrated on the road between Beit Jinn and Mizra'at Beit Jinn, amid rising tensions. Many families have fled the village to nearby areas perceived as safer due to fears of further military escalation.
On Friday, the Israeli military spokesperson Avichai Adraee announced a nighttime military operation in Beit Jinn via the social media platform "X".
The statement indicated that Israeli forces apprehended suspects allegedly linked to a group referred to as the "Islamic Group". The operation was conducted based on intelligence gathered in recent weeks, suggesting that the group was planning attacks against Israeli civilians.
The Israeli military also reported that its troops came under fire and returned fire, resulting in injuries to six military personnel, with injuries ranging from severe to mild.
In the statement relayed by Adraee, it was noted that "the operation was fully completed, all targets were apprehended, and several terrorists were neutralized." He emphasized that "troops will remain in the region and continue operations against threats."
These actions are part of a series of ongoing operations conducted by Israel throughout Syria in 2025, targeting areas near Damascus and in the southern part of the country, as part of efforts to "stop threats against itself and protect the Druze community near the border."
In response, Syrian authorities have reported that these attacks have resulted in the deaths of military personnel.
