IOM Reports Mass Displacement in South Kordofan Amid Rising Violence

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported on Saturday that the city of Kertala in South Kordofan, Sudan, witnessed a significant displacement event, with 1,625 individuals compelled to leave their homes due to deteriorating security conditions and increased violations linked to the Rapid Support Forces.

The statement highlights that this latest wave of displacement underscores the severity of the humanitarian crisis in the region, as ongoing armed conflicts heighten risks for civilians, exacerbating issues related to food, shelter, and essential services.

The organization warns that the continuation of these violations poses a threat of further mass displacements and calls for the establishment of safe corridors for civilians, as well as urgent access to humanitarian aid for those affected.
