The Shubra El-Kheima Criminal Court confirmed on Monday the death sentence for a defendant found guilty of murdering a child and mutilating his body by removing organs. This case has profoundly shocked public sentiment in Egypt.
The court also sentenced the defendant's accomplice, a 15-year-old minor, to 15 years in prison, which, when combined with related charges, totals 45 years.
The crime occurred in April 2024, when the defendants reportedly lured the child under the guise of offering a gift. They then drugged, killed him, and dismembered his body, recording the act to share on the dark web for financial gain.
In its ruling, the court highlighted the grave nature of the crime and its implications for community safety and the protection of children.
