The Syrian Ministry of Education prohibits chanting any slogans or anthems other than the national anthem in schools

The Syrian Ministry of Education issued a circular on Monday prohibiting the chanting of any slogan or anthem in public and private schools at all educational stages, until the national anthem of the Syrian Arab Republic and the official logo of the ministry are adopted according to constitutional and legal procedures.

The circular addressed to the education directors in the provinces stated that "it is strictly prohibited in all public and private schools to chant any anthem or slogan of any kind," emphasizing the need for strict adherence to the instructions and monitoring of implementation, with reports to be submitted to the ministry regarding any violations.

This decision comes after videos circulated on social media showing students chanting unapproved slogans in schoolyards, which sparked widespread controversy in Syrian society.

The new academic year began on September 21 with the participation of more than 4 million students.
