A United Nations delegation, led by Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix and accompanied by Syria's permanent representative Ibrahim Alabi, visited Quneitra Governorate today. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate the security and humanitarian conditions in the region and to discuss ongoing Israeli incursions and violations against civilians.

Meetings with Local Officials and Residents

During their visit, the delegation met with local officials and residents affected by Israeli military actions. They listened to testimonies regarding repeated raids, arbitrary arrests, destruction of agricultural land, and deforestation, as well as the detrimental effects these violations have had on the community's daily life.

Urgent Calls for Action

Residents expressed a pressing need for immediate measures to halt Israeli incursions and violations, emphasizing the importance of ensuring their security and stability while protecting their properties and livelihoods amidst ongoing assaults on local villages and towns.

UN Commitment to Address Concerns

The UN delegation pledged to relay the residents' concerns and complaints to the United Nations and to pursue follow-up actions through official channels, aiming to enhance civilian protection and uphold their fundamental rights.

Impact of Israeli Actions

In a statement to SANA, Mohammed Al-Nasser, the representative of the Quneitra governor and head of the Western Gathering of the Golan Heights, reported that Israeli military actions have led to significant agricultural losses and the detention of 45 individuals from the governorate, adversely affecting local living conditions.

UN Patrols in Quneitra Countryside

The United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) announced the initiation of patrols and the establishment of night checkpoints in various villages and towns in northern Quneitra, in response to escalating security tensions.

Calls for Compliance with the Disengagement Agreement

Syria has accused Israel of violating the 1974 Disengagement Agreement through military incursions, arrests, forced displacements, and property destruction, urging the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and ensure the withdrawal of occupying forces from southern Syria in accordance with the agreement.
