Liverpool's Arne Slot Questions Refereeing After Defeat to Manchester City

Liverpool manager Arne Slot expressed his frustration following his team's 2-1 defeat to Manchester City in a high-stakes Premier League match on Sunday.
In an interview with the BBC after the game, Slot stated:
"A lot transpired during the match, which is typical for such encounters, but the disappointment is significant due to the unfavorable outcome."
He acknowledged that Manchester City performed better in the first half, despite not creating many clear-cut chances, as they maintained possession in Liverpool's half.
In the second half, Slot noted that his team improved significantly, creating multiple scoring opportunities. He commented:
"We were clearly the superior side and restricted them from any memorable chances. A deflected cross led to an equalizer at 1-1, and although we attempted to contain them, Bernardo Silva executed the attack superbly."
Slot also highlighted Liverpool's tendency to concede goals in stoppage time, which occurred again in this match. He addressed the moment when Dominic Szoboszlai received a red card, stating:
"This incident is not the most critical. The pivotal moment was when Mohamed Salah found himself one-on-one with the goal; anyone familiar with his performance here knows he usually scores in that situation. Once again, the referee's decisions did not favor us."
Szoboszlai was sent off for pulling Erling Haaland's shirt while following a shot from Ryan Cherki towards an empty net. Liverpool players had also called for a red card against Marc Guéhi for a clear foul on Mohamed Salah, who was in a prime scoring position.
With this result, Manchester City continues to pursue the top of the league, while Liverpool faces mounting pressure to secure its standing amid ongoing scrutiny of officiating in key matches.
