Outrage in Egypt After Video Shows Children Struck by Microbus in Assiut

A video circulating on social media has triggered widespread anger across Egypt after it captured the moment a microbus struck two children crossing the road in the village of Darnaka, located in Assiut. The incident has reignited discussions regarding traffic safety and the issue of unlicensed driving.
The event stemmed from a traffic dispute between the driver of a private car and the microbus driver over right-of-way. As tensions escalated, the microbus driver attempted to flee the scene at high speed, ultimately losing control of the vehicle and hitting the two children who were crossing the street.
The microbus continued moving forward, crashing into the front of a local shop, causing panic among residents. The two injured children were quickly transported to a hospital, where they were treated for bruises and multiple fractures. This incident has led to a surge of anger in the community, with residents demanding accountability for those responsible.
In response, the Egyptian Ministry of Interior announced that security agencies had launched an immediate investigation following the video's circulation. Within hours, they identified and apprehended the individuals involved in the incident.
Investigations revealed that the microbus driver did not possess a valid driving license. Legal actions are being pursued against him, and the public prosecutor has been informed to initiate further inquiries into the incident.
The incident continues to attract significant attention on social media, with calls for enhanced traffic regulation and stricter enforcement against unlicensed driving to safeguard the lives of vulnerable individuals, particularly children.
