Erdoğan Presents Electric Car to Sisi, Signaling Improved Egypt-Turkey Relations

In a notable gesture, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented an electric car to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi during his official visit to Cairo. This visit coincided with the second meeting of the high-level strategic cooperation council between Egypt and Turkey.
The event took place in the garden of the Federal Palace, where President Sisi examined the vehicle before taking it for a drive, accompanied by President Erdoğan. This ride from the presidential palace to the Egyptian-Turkish business forum at the Al-Masa Hotel in Nasr City served as a clear indication of the strengthening ties between the two countries.
The official spokesperson for the presidency noted that the car was gifted as part of Erdoğan's official visit, which included discussions aimed at enhancing political and economic collaboration between Cairo and Ankara.
* Features of the Turkish Electric Vehicle
The Turkish news outlet TRT reported details about the electric vehicle, named “Tog” (TOGG), a Class C sports utility vehicle (SUV) that showcases advancements in Turkey's electric vehicle industry.
The Tog offers a range of over 300 kilometers, with some models exceeding 500 kilometers, and can charge to 80% in under 30 minutes due to fast charging technology. It features a battery integrated into the vehicle's structure, enhancing safety and shock resistance.
The vehicle is built on an advanced modular electric platform and supports over-the-air software updates via 4G and 5G networks, allowing for ongoing performance improvements without needing service center visits.
With a power output of 200 horsepower, the Tog accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in less than 7.6 seconds, while a more powerful version with 400 horsepower achieves this in under 4.8 seconds, positioning it among high-performance electric vehicles.
* Innovative Technology Features
One of the standout features of the Tog is its three-dimensional holographic assistant technology, which employs eye-tracking, holographic imaging, and augmented reality to deliver information and navigation interactively, minimizing distractions for the driver.
The vehicle maintains a constant internet connection through its smart infrastructure, enhancing the overall driving experience, safety, and comfort.
According to the manufacturer, the starting price for the Tog in the Turkish market is approximately $49,000, equivalent to around 2.3 million Egyptian pounds.
Erdoğan's visit to Cairo, particularly the moment of President Sisi driving the Turkish electric car, signifies a new chapter in Egyptian-Turkish relations, marked by strategic cooperation and economic openness.
