The Egyptian Interior Ministry announced today that it has successfully disrupted an operation involving the sale of unlicensed drones that were being advertised on social media. This security initiative underscores the effectiveness of surveillance and investigative efforts.
The operation followed extensive investigations by the Criminal Investigation Department of the Cairo Security Directorate, which tracked an individual who was attempting to sell a drone equipped with a high-resolution camera online, without the necessary legal permits.
With authorization from the Public Prosecution, law enforcement conducted a sting operation in the Al-Zawiya Al-Hamra neighborhood of Cairo. The suspect was apprehended along with the drone, and subsequent questioning revealed the primary source of the unauthorized devices, allowing authorities to identify the broader network involved.
The Interior Ministry stated that this operation is part of its broader strategy to combat the smuggling and illegal promotion of restricted technological devices, aimed at protecting national security and ensuring public safety.
