Leonardo DiCaprio Misses Palm Springs Film Awards Due to Venezuelan Crisis

At 51 years old, DiCaprio was scheduled to be honored with the "Desert Palm" award for his performance in the film One Battle After Another, but flight restrictions prevented him from attending at the last minute.
Festival organizers explained that DiCaprio was vacationing on the island of Saint Barthélemy with several celebrity friends when he became stranded due to air traffic interruptions resulting from U.S. airstrikes on Venezuelan sites ordered by President Donald Trump.
A spokesperson for the festival stated to People magazine:
"We had hoped Leonardo DiCaprio would join us in person, but circumstances beyond our control made that impossible. Nonetheless, his recognition remains a significant honor for the festival."
In lieu of his presence, DiCaprio provided a pre-recorded acceptance speech that was played during the ceremony, with Teyana Taylor and Chase Infinite presenting the award on his behalf. Festival president Nachatar Singh Chandi praised DiCaprio's career, asserting that his latest performance solidifies his status as one of contemporary cinema's most influential actors.
This incident occurs amidst escalating U.S. military actions targeting the Venezuelan capital of Caracas and various military bases, part of efforts to displace President Nicolás Maduro's regime, which has led to the cancellation and rerouting of hundreds of flights to and from Caribbean nations and islands.
