Over 100,000 Flee El Fasher Amid Escalating Humanitarian Crisis, UN Reports

Eugène Pion, spokesperson for the UN Refugee Agency, announced today that over 100,000 individuals have fled El Fasher in just two weeks, confirming that additional displaced persons are en route while many civilians remain trapped within the city.

He emphasized that the violations of civilian rights highlight the severity of the crisis in Sudan, noting that violence and humanitarian issues are beginning to spread to other regions beyond El Fasher.

Pion stressed that protecting civilians must be a top priority for all parties involved in the conflict, especially as thousands suffer from malnutrition and face extremely difficult living conditions.

He also pointed out that neighboring regions in Sudan are experiencing an increasing influx of refugees, further straining humanitarian resources in those areas.

This statement comes amid repeated warnings from international organizations regarding the worsening humanitarian crisis in the Darfur region, with urgent calls for safe corridors and support for affected civilians.
