Iraq to Announce Preliminary Parliamentary Election Results After Secure Voting Process

General Qais al-Muhamdawi, head of Iraq's High Electoral Security Commission, announced that preliminary results of the parliamentary elections will be disclosed this evening, confirming that the electoral process was conducted smoothly and transparently, with no significant security violations recorded.
Al-Muhamdawi stated that all polling stations closed yesterday evening at 6 PM local time, praising the "heroic and professional" role of security forces in ensuring a secure voting environment, according to a statement to the Iraqi news agency.
He added that the transportation of ballot boxes and data began at 8 PM after the completion of manual counting and the delivery of results to representatives of political entities.
* Security Plan Deemed Successful
Al-Muhamdawi highlighted that military aviation assisted in transporting electoral materials from remote areas in Samawa, Anbar, and Najaf, while airlift operations moved materials from provinces with airports to Baghdad, and ground transport was conducted from neighboring provinces.
He confirmed that the first phase of the security plan was successfully completed, with technical equipment operating without any failures or interruptions.
Additionally, he noted that over 132 electoral violations were recorded, labeling them as "insignificant to the results," asserting that "the electoral process is considered one of the most successful in the country's history" in terms of organization and security.
* Increased Voter Turnout
The Independent Electoral Commission reported that voter turnout exceeded 55%, with approximately 12 million out of 21.4 million eligible voters participating in the general and special election days.
This marks a significant increase from the 41% turnout recorded during the 2021 elections, despite a boycott by the Sadrist movement leader, Moqtada al-Sadr, in this electoral cycle.
