Germany's Foreign Minister: G7 Seeks UN Mandate for Gaza Peace Plan Implementation

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced that G7 nations are pursuing a mandate from the United Nations Security Council to ensure the rapid implementation of a peace plan for Gaza.
This statement was made during his participation in a G7 foreign ministers' meeting held in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, where Wadephul explained that the aim of the mandate is to "demilitarize Hamas and assign an international security force to manage the region."
The German minister added that the foreign ministers discussed this issue during the opening session on Tuesday evening, emphasizing that they "agreed that a Security Council mandate is necessary and that efforts should be made to secure it as soon as possible." He also cautioned that "decisions cannot be imposed but must be seriously negotiated."
Wadephul stressed that "time is of the essence for everyone," asserting the need for an urgent security structure to maintain order in Gaza.
It is important to note that the G7 comprises Germany, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
