Critical Condition of Officer Following Accident During Vice President's Parade in Tennessee

On Friday night, two law enforcement vehicles were involved in an accident in Tennessee while providing support for a parade featuring U.S. Vice President JD Vance. As a result, a police officer was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
The incident occurred in Maryville, approximately 17 miles (27 kilometers) south of Knoxville, and involved a Maryville police officer on a motorcycle and state troopers. Both individuals were taken to the hospital, but the condition of the state trooper has not yet been disclosed.
Catherine Pierce, a U.S. Secret Service agent overseeing the event in Knoxville, stated that the agency is closely monitoring the situation, assuring that "the safety and movement of those we protect were not impacted by this incident."
The Tennessee Highway Patrol has initiated a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
