The Syrian Ministry of Energy has signed final agreements with a consortium of companies led by "Orbacon" Holding to establish four power generation plants that rely on natural gas and solar energy, according to an official statement issued by the ministry.

Implementation Sites

The statement clarified that the project includes the establishment of plants in northern Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, rural Damascus, and the central region, in addition to solar energy projects with a total capacity of up to 1000 megawatts distributed across several sites within the country.

This development is considered the largest in the energy sector since 2011 and is part of a broader plan to rehabilitate the national electricity system and enhance its operational reliability and sustainability of electricity supply.

Ministry Vision

Syrian Energy Minister Mohammad Al-Bashir stated after the signing that the project represents a "qualitative leap" in the infrastructure of the energy sector in the country, emphasizing that it will support supply security within the Syrian grid and attract international investments in sustainable energy projects.

Al-Bashir pointed out that the new government vision in the energy sector is based on balancing economic feasibility and operational efficiency on one hand, and environmental standards and sustainability on the other, which enhances the recovery of the national economy and improves the level of services for citizens.
