YouTube Introduces New Filters for Video Content

The platform YouTube has announced significant updates to its search filters, granting users greater control over the types of content they wish to view.
Users can now specifically search for either Shorts or long videos, addressing previous complaints about mixed results.
According to the tech news site The Verge, the new filters will allow users to select:
• Long Videos: Display only long videos.
• Shorts: Display only short videos.
Additionally, YouTube has removed the filters for Upload Date - Last Hour and Sort by Rating, which were deemed ineffective and led to user complaints.
However, options for upload dates such as today, this week, this month, and this year will remain available.
YouTube has also introduced a new filter called Popularity, which replaces the View Count option. This new system evaluates videos based on view counts, watch time, and other relevance indicators to determine their popularity in relation to search queries.
To enhance user experience, the platform has renamed the Sort By list to Prioritize, aiming for clearer and more effective navigation.
These updates are part of YouTube's efforts to provide a more precise and seamless search experience, allowing users to directly access the type of content they prefer, whether it be short clips or longer videos, without sifting through mixed results.
