US and Israel Conduct Joint Naval Exercises in Red Sea Amid Rising Tensions with Iran

In a move aimed at enhancing military collaboration, the United States and Israel conducted joint naval exercises in the Red Sea on Sunday. Both nations characterized the drills as routine, yet they occur against a backdrop of escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran.
The exercise featured the US destroyer "Delbert D. Black," equipped with advanced capabilities for defense against aerial and maritime threats, as well as for submarine defense and precision strikes on land targets.
Following the drills, the destroyer made its way to the Israeli port city of Eilat.
On the Israeli side, the naval vessel "INS Eilat" participated in the exercises, with the Israeli military confirming that these maneuvers underscore the close cooperation between the naval forces of both countries.
US-Iran relations have seen heightened tensions in recent weeks, as President Donald Trump has threatened military action against Iran, which in turn has warned of retaliatory strikes against Israel and the United States in the event of an attack.
Despite these escalations, reports indicate that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is set to meet with US Special Envoy Steve Biegun to discuss negotiations aimed at de-escalating tensions.
