Adel Imam: The Unfounded Rumors Surrounding the Egyptian Icon

Rami Imam, son of renowned Egyptian actor Adel Imam, discussed the extensive rumors that have followed his father throughout his artistic career, noting that the entire family has sometimes been affected, while the actor himself has chosen to ignore them.
In an interview on the podcast "Fadfadet Owi" with director Moataz El-Touni, Rami stated:
"We have always lived with rumors, whether they are funny or absurd," explaining that he and his siblings, Mohamed and his sister, were often more impacted than their father, who simply advised them to "let it go."
* From Childhood Rumors to the Egyptian Pound
Rami recalled that the rumors began when his father acquired a small apartment in Mohandessin, with some claiming that he owned the entire building. After 17 years, the family moved to a new apartment, and similar rumors about ownership of the building and the famous restaurant below emerged, with even the surrounding area being labeled as property of Adel Imam.
* Even the Dog Wasn't Spared!
The rumors extended beyond property ownership to include Adel Imam's dog, which was said to be fed pigeons at a cost of 1,000 pounds a month. Rami mentioned that some individuals even knocked on their door at 4 AM asking for money due to these false reports.
* The Egyptian Pound Story
One of the most prominent rumors that circulated for a long time was that the Egyptian government had offered to feature Adel Imam's image on the Egyptian pound to settle state debts, a claim that the family completely denied.
* Rumors About Age and Health
Rami pointed out that exaggerated news about his father's age and health persisted throughout his life, even as he turned eighty. He emphasized that the family has suffered greatly from these rumors, as well as from controversies surrounding some of his father's films, such as "The Terrorist", which led to police cars being stationed outside their home for security.
Despite all of this, Adel Imam remained steadfast, adhering to a principle for his family: Ignore the rumors and live your life away from them.
