A model of the stealth fighter F-35, identified as the "JewelCrown" of the Royal Saudi Air Force, drew considerable interest at the Global Defense Exhibition 2026, which commenced last Sunday in Al-Malham, located north of Riyadh. This event underscores the rising global interest in Saudi Arabia's defense capabilities.

The booth of Lockheed Martin saw a high volume of visitors, who were invited to engage with an interactive cockpit experience of the advanced fighter jet. The presentation highlighted the aircraft's cutting-edge technologies, reinforcing its status as one of the most sophisticated fighter jets globally.

The F-35 is noted for its integrated night and day vision capabilities, which enhance operational response times and decision-making accuracy, providing a tactical advantage in contemporary warfare.

The strong turnout for the aircraft signifies the importance of the Global Defense Exhibition as a premier international venue for showcasing the latest advancements in defense technologies. It facilitates the exchange of expertise and knowledge, aligning with swift developments in defense and security, and positions Saudi Arabia as a pivotal player in military innovation.

Saudi Arabia has formally requested the purchase of up to 48 F-35 fighter jets, with the U.S. Department of Defense currently reviewing the request.

In mid-November 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed plans to approve the sale of these jets to Saudi Arabia.

The Royal Saudi Air Force is recognized as one of the most formidable in the region, bolstered by its advanced fleet and highly trained pilots with extensive combat experience.

The introduction of the American stealth fighter F-35 is anticipated to enhance the operational capabilities and standing of the Saudi Air Force, leveraging the latest combat technologies available.
