The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) commenced their withdrawal from the region surrounding Hasakah today, in accordance with an agreement made with the Syrian government on January 30, 2026.

As the SDF vacates these areas, Syrian state-affiliated internal security forces are being deployed. The agreement includes the transfer of oil wells and Qamishli Airport to the Syrian government, as well as the integration of self-administration institutions into the state framework, while also ensuring the rights of the local Kurdish community.
