Nigeria Defeats Gabon 4-1 to Reach African Playoff Final for 2026 World Cup

The Nigerian national football team advanced to the final of the African playoff qualifying for the 2026 World Cup after a convincing 4-1 victory over Gabon in a semi-final match held in Morocco.

Both teams displayed strong defensive strategies during the initial stages of the match. However, Nigeria broke the deadlock in the 78th minute with a goal from striker Akor Adams. Gabon responded quickly, equalizing with a goal from Mario Lemina in the 89th minute, which sent the match into extra time.

In the extra periods, Nigeria took control, showcasing their physical advantage. Sidra Edgoukeh scored the second goal in the 97th minute, followed by two goals from star striker Victor Osimhen in the 102nd and 110th minutes, sealing the victory for the "Super Eagles."
