Macron Advocates for Security Framework with Russia and Economic Autonomy for Europe

French President Emmanuel Macron has called for the creation of a new security framework in Europe that incorporates Russia, challenging the current U.S. policy towards the European bloc.
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper "El País," Macron stated:
"We need to establish a new security structure in Europe that includes Russia," as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.
Macron reiterated his proposal for the European Union to engage in joint borrowing through euro bonds, suggesting that this initiative would allow Europe to invest more significantly and reduce reliance on the U.S. dollar.
He cautioned that Europe must be ready for potential disagreements with the United States, viewing the recent "Greenland" crisis as a signal to implement necessary economic reforms and enhance the global standing of the European bloc.
In remarks to various European media outlets, Macron stressed that Europe should not mistake a temporary reduction in tensions with the U.S. for a lasting change in relations, despite recent resolutions regarding issues like Greenland, trade, and technology.
He added: "When faced with clear hostile actions, we should not yield or seek compromise. Our previous strategy has not yielded results after months of effort."
Macron expressed criticism of past U.S. policies, particularly under the Trump administration, which he described as openly antagonistic towards Europe and aimed at undermining the European Union.
He also warned that the U.S. might impose tariffs on European imports if the EU utilized the Digital Services Act to regulate technology companies.
In related news, EU leaders are set to convene in Brussels on Thursday to discuss strategies for strengthening the European economy and enhancing its competitiveness against the United States and China on the global stage.
