Apple has announced a new accessory, the "iPhone Pocket," developed in collaboration with the esteemed Japanese fashion brand Issey Miyake. This compact pocket is designed to hold iPhones along with small items such as earbuds and keys.
Utilizing advanced 3D-knit technology, the iPhone Pocket offers a versatile design that can be carried in multiple ways: by hand, as a small shoulder bag, or attached to a larger bag. Its mesh structure allows visibility of contents when stretched, and it comes in a range of colors that complement various iPhone models.
The iPhone Pocket is available in two configurations:
- The short version, priced at $149.95, is offered in colors such as lemon, orange, purple, pink, peacock blue, and black.
- The long version, priced at $229.95, is available in blue, cinnamon, and black.
Molly Anderson, Vice President of Industrial Design at Apple, remarked that the product reflects a blend of simplicity and craftsmanship that characterizes both Apple and Issey Miyake. The collaboration also pays tribute to the late Steve Jobs, who famously wore Miyake's black turtlenecks, symbolizing the intersection of technology and fashion.
While the product is set to be released in limited quantities, its pricing has generated debate online, with some critics labeling it as "a luxury piece of fabric at the cost of a mid-range smartphone." This has led to speculation about potential imitations and inspired designs in the market.
