Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shibani stated that "the New Syria" is dedicated to ensuring the return of all its citizens, emphasizing an open-door policy for those wishing to return.

Al-Shibani made these remarks during a joint press conference in Damascus with Danish Foreign Minister Lars Lok Rasmussen, following extensive discussions aimed at enhancing bilateral relations and addressing mutual interests.

Strengthening Ties Between Syria and Denmark

Al-Shibani noted that Syria has regained its national sovereignty following the previous regime's fall, identifying Denmark as a "key partner" in promoting stability. He commended Denmark's positions in the Security Council and its support for Syria's unity and national decision-making, adding that the discussions included diplomatic representation and bilateral relations.

The minister also mentioned that talks included practical measures to facilitate the return of Syrian refugees, reaffirming Damascus's commitment to resolving all related issues.

Establishment of a Syrian-Danish Business Council

Al-Shibani announced a preliminary agreement to establish a Syrian-Danish Business Council aimed at enhancing economic cooperation. He encouraged Danish companies, particularly those in renewable energy, to invest in Syria, aligning with the vision of "the New Syria" that emphasizes an open economy, international partnerships, and good governance.

Joint Condemnation of Israeli Military Actions

In a separate matter, Al-Shibani indicated that Denmark condemned the recent Israeli military actions in Syria, including the bombing of the Beit Jin area in the Damascus countryside. He characterized these actions as a "serious violation of international law and the United Nations Charter," urging the international community and the Arab League to take responsibility in halting such aggression.

Denmark: Committed to Enhanced Support

For his part, Danish Foreign Minister Rasmussen remarked that his visit coincided with the anniversary of Syria's liberation from the previous regime, expressing Denmark's willingness to transition from a partnership to full support for Syria. He confirmed Denmark's readiness to increase aid to the Syrian people and contribute to the country's recovery and reconstruction, while expressing hope that sanctions on Syria would be lifted soon to allow greater foreign investment, including from Danish companies.
