Southern Transitional Council Delegation Heads to Riyadh for Dialogue Conference

Yemenis are focusing their attention on Riyadh this Wednesday morning, following confirmation from informed sources that a delegation from the Southern Transitional Council (STC) has departed on a flight to Saudi Arabia. This visit comes in response to an official invitation to attend a comprehensive southern dialogue conference.
Riyadh is set to host an inclusive conference that will bring together all components, forces, and personalities from the south to negotiate fair and comprehensive solutions regarding southern issues. This initiative follows a request from Rashad Al-Alimi, the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, who sought Saudi Arabia's assistance in facilitating this pivotal meeting. The hope is that this conference will serve as a unifying platform to alleviate tensions and pave the way for an agreed political resolution.
The timing of the conference is particularly sensitive, as STC forces have recently gained control over significant areas in the Hadramout and Mahra governorates. This situation prompted the "Homeland Shield" forces to launch a military operation on January 2, aimed at reclaiming military installations, which has successfully established their control over these two governorates.
Sources within the STC have indicated that the delegation traveling to Riyadh is significant, representing the political and military weight of the council, signaling a willingness to engage in dialogue and address various pressing issues.
In this context, numerous Yemeni groups in Hadramout, Mahra, Shabwa, Abyan, and other governorates have welcomed Riyadh's response to hosting this conference, viewing it as a vital opportunity to bridge differences and unify the southern front.
The Saudi Council of Ministers has reiterated its support for the request made by the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, emphasizing the kingdom's commitment to all efforts aimed at achieving stability, enhancing political dialogue, and reaching peaceful solutions that serve the security of Yemen and the region.
The Riyadh conference is expected to be a decisive turning point in addressing southern issues, with widespread anticipation regarding its outcomes and the potential agreements that could reshape the political landscape in southern Yemen.
