In a significant development for bilateral relations, Syria and Saudi Arabia have signed a series of strategic agreements in the Syrian capital, Damascus. These agreements mark a pivotal moment in the economic and developmental partnership between the two nations, addressing vital sectors such as aviation, water, communications, and industry, along with large-scale social projects.

Advancements in Aviation and Air Transport

The agreements feature plans for the development of a new international airport in Aleppo, as well as initiatives to modernize and operate the existing airport to enhance air transport and improve logistics efficiency. Additionally, the agreements include the establishment of a new Syrian airline focused on commercial and cargo transport, in collaboration with the Syrian Civil Aviation Authority, thereby boosting the country's capacity in the aviation sector.

Strategic Water Projects to Address Challenges

In the water sector, an agreement has been reached to develop desalination and water transport projects, which will involve comprehensive economic, technical, and financial studies. These initiatives aim to explore the potential for seawater desalination and provide sustainable solutions to the water challenges faced by the country.

Enhancing Digital Infrastructure and Data Center Development

The agreements also include a strategic project to improve communication infrastructure by expanding the fiber optic network and establishing modern data centers. This initiative aims to enhance internet service quality and strengthen Syria's position as a regional hub for data transmission and international communication.

Support for the Industrial Sector and Workforce Training

In the industrial domain, the agreements focus on the operation and development of the Syrian Modern Cable Company, which will support local industries and boost production. Furthermore, there are plans to develop a national platform dedicated to professional and technical training, aimed at enhancing workforce efficiency and meeting labor market demands.

Joint Development Initiatives to Strengthen Cooperation

On the development and social front, a framework cooperation agreement was signed between the "Syrian Development Fund" and the "Saudi Development Commission," which includes the launch of 45 joint development initiatives aimed at supporting projects that improve services and living conditions across various sectors.
