Senegal Advances to Africa Cup Final After Defeating Egypt with Mané's Goal

Sadio Mané scored the decisive goal in the 78th minute, leading Senegal to a 1-0 victory over Egypt in the semi-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, held in Morocco. This win marks Senegal's return to the final for the fourth time in its history, following a 12-year absence.
The final will take place next Sunday at the "Moulay Abdellah" Stadium in Rabat, where Senegal will face the winner of the semi-final match between Morocco and Nigeria.
This victory reinforces Mané's dominance over the Egyptian team, having faced them in six previous matches, winning five and losing only once. His first encounters against Egypt occurred during the 2014 Africa Cup qualifiers, where he scored in both legs, contributing to Senegal's aggregate victory.
Following a hiatus from facing Egypt, Mané played against them again in the 2021 Africa Cup final, which Senegal won in a penalty shootout. The teams also met during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, where Senegal lost the first leg but advanced after winning the return leg on penalties.
Egypt will now compete against the losing team from the Morocco-Nigeria match next Saturday at the "Mohammed V" Stadium in Casablanca, seeking to recover from the semi-final defeat.
This latest victory underscores Senegal's reputation as a challenging opponent for Egypt in major continental tournaments, as they aim for their second Africa Cup title, having previously won in 2021 and reached the finals in 2002, 2019, and 2021.
