Egyptian star Mohamed Salah has once again made headlines by matching the record of Ivorian legend Didier Drogba for the most international goals by an African player.
Salah scored the winning goal for Egypt in their 1-0 victory over South Africa during the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025", bringing his total to 65 international goals. This achievement places him alongside Drogba in fourth place on the all-time list of Africa's top international scorers.
With this latest goal, Salah is now closing in on Hossam Hassan, the current coach of the Egyptian national team, who holds the third position with 69 goals. Salah needs just four more goals to enter the top three of Africa's all-time international scorers.
The current rankings of Africa's top international goal scorers are as follows:
Godfrey Chitalu (Zambia): 79 goals.
Kena Ferry (Malawi): 71 goals.
Hossam Hassan (Egypt): 69 goals.
Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast): 65 goals.
= Mohamed Salah (Egypt): 65 goals.
Through these accomplishments, Mohamed Salah continues to etch his name in the annals of African football history, reinforcing his status as one of the continent's premier strikers.
