Macron Calls for a New Security Partnership with Russia and Economic Independence for Europe

In a move that could reshape international relations, French President Emmanuel Macron has advocated for the creation of a new security architecture in Europe that incorporates Russia, challenging the current U.S. policy towards the European bloc.
In an interview with the Spanish newspaper "El País," Macron stated:
"We must create a new security architecture in Europe with the participation of Russia," according to the Russian news agency TASS.
The French leader also reiterated his call for the European Union to adopt a common borrowing strategy through euro-denominated bonds, arguing that this step would enable Europe to make significant investments and reduce its reliance on the U.S. dollar.
Macron warned that Europe needs to prepare for potential conflicts with the United States, viewing the recent Greenland crisis as a wake-up call to implement necessary economic reforms and enhance the global standing of the European bloc.
In comments to various European newspapers, Macron stressed that Europe should not mistake a temporary easing of tensions with Washington for a permanent shift in relations, despite what appeared to be resolutions regarding Greenland, trade, and technology issues.
He added: "When there is clear hostility, we should not bow down or seek compromise. We have tried this strategy for months, and it has not worked."
Macron has openly criticized previous U.S. policies, asserting that the Trump administration was overtly hostile towards Europe and aimed to undermine the European Union.
He also cautioned that the U.S. might impose tariffs on European imports if the EU were to utilize digital services legislation to regulate technology companies.
In this context, EU leaders are set to hold a summit in Brussels on Thursday to discuss measures aimed at strengthening the European economy and enhancing its competitiveness against the United States and China on the global stage.
