Sydney Community Raises $1.5 Million for Hero Ahmad Al-Ahmad

The Jewish community in Sydney has initiated a fundraising campaign in honor of Syrian youth Ahmad Al-Ahmad, who successfully disarmed an assailant attacking worshippers at Bondi Beach last Sunday.

The campaign has raised approximately $1.5 million to recognize his heroic act, which prevented a larger tragedy.

In Syria, Al-Ahmad's family expressed pride in his actions, stating, "Ahmad is a hero of whom we are proud, and Syria is proud as well."

This act is viewed as an example of individual courage that is celebrated both locally and internationally, as Al-Ahmad's bravery helped save lives and avert further escalation of the attack.
